What a delight! And a true 'labour of love'. I designed and printed 300 Record sleeves - quite a task! A close look at the cover reveals a subtle SKULL shape - with SMILE as teeth. The wonderful Benedic Lamdin approached me late in 2009 to design his new LP 'SMILE' - and the another LP due out in 2 weeks. A more genuine and laid back guy you will not meet... Wonderful jazz by the way!!!
The problem's first press! Featured in this months (well, next month March 2010) edition of Grafik. A TWO PIPE PROBLEM can be found in the SHOWCASE section. Get your copy today!
The first in a series of EXQUISITE CORPSE posters. And only the second job to be completed on the new MODEL 4. (you'll have to wait to see the first job!!) The working title of the series is 'THE PROBLEM WITH THE SILENT MOUSTACHE'. A few 'CORSPES' have already been written and the idea is to print a book to go work with the posters. I hope to have a set of posters and the book ready by the early summer.
The technique was invented by Surrealists and is similar to an old parlour game called consequences in which players write in turn on a sheet of paper, fold it to conceal part of the writing, and then pass it to the next player for a further contribution. Surrealism principal founder Andre Breton reported that it started in fun, but became playful and eventually enriching. Breton said the diversion started about 1925, but Pierre Reverdy wrote that it started much earlier, at least before 1918.

I was really pleased with the final results as were Chris and Will (both creative directors). Business cards set in IMPACT and Baskerville and a 2 fold, 3 panel A4 flyer - printed both sides!
After months of patiently waiting the bespoke made rollers finally arrived followed swiftly by the bench needed to carry the 118kgs that is the Model 4! Early results on the press have been promising and with a chase size of 10" by 7 1/2 " I can now print up to 15 1/2" by 12"
Watch this space for some very exciting printed matter to come.
